6 New and Awesome Reasons to Head Down to SMU Open House 2017

It’s that time of the year—choosing that dream university to attend! From insightful faculty talks and discussions, to exciting activities and performances, we invite you to step into the shoes of an SMU student and discover what one of Singapore’s most vibrant campuses has to offer. Take an open top bus tour and discover the sights and sounds in and around our campus, or indulge in a gastronomical journey with our options of food galore. Whatever you prefer, here are five reasons you should head down to our Open House on 4 and 5 March:

1. Open your mind to new experiences with over 120 student clubs

From ballroom dancing to extreme sports, SMU is alive and thriving with clubs of every obscure hobby possible. Whether you’re into water sports or a capella singing, there’s something here for you to discover at the CCA display at our Open House. You’ll find these vibrant showcases along our Underground Concourse, as well as special performances during our talks!

Meet our SMU students as they bring you around and share the most exciting stories of our city campus. Walking tours are every hour from 12pm to 5pm, and bus tours every hour from 11am to 8pm on 4 March, and 12pm to 6pm on 5 March.

3. Get your groove on at SMU Samba Festival 2017— Viva O’ Samba

Centered upon the lively Brazilian culture, Viva O’ Samba is a percussion music festival to bring the growing Singapore samba community under one roof. Spearheaded by SMU’s very own samba percussion band, SMU Samba Masala, and joined by local ethnic percussion groups like Sambiesta, Nadi Singapura, Bantus Capoeira Singapore and ZingO that give the performance our own unique Singaporean flavour, this year’s Samba performance promises to be like no other. So put on your dancing shoes, as we show how we work hard, and play hard as well. Psst… if anything at all, you don’t want to miss the opening parade that starts from our brand new SMU School of Law building all the way to Campus Green.

It’s all about flexibility and broad perspectives, and with more than 300 combinations of second majors and 15 double degree combinations, you’re covered whether you choose to specialise or choose contrasting disciplines. So get hands on and have a say in how you want your lessons conducted at the various talks held throughout Open House.
