When K-pop Becomes Your Business

Three young K-pop fans in SMU quickly recognised the business opportunity that a global fanbase presented. SMU Accountancy student Janessa Sim and her partners decided to set up an online marketplace selling fan-made K-pop merchandise—KpopKart, designed as a one-stop solution to buy and sell K-pop merchandise for fans from anywhere in the world.

INSPIRE – A Story of Giving to Receive

Accountancy student Joel Long and his friends started INSPIRE—a mentoring programme for children from low-income families in the Kebun Bahru community. He received a Letter of Commendation from the MP for Nee Soon GRC, Mr Henry Kwek, in recognition of his contributions.

Laos Will See You Now: SMU-X Overseas Accounting Study Mission

SMU Accountancy student Megan Ng joined the SMU-X Overseas Accounting Study Mission trip to Laos last December, and returned with a newfound respect and love for the country. She gained a deep appreciation of the cultural, commercial and educational differences that exist between different states and how to bridge them.
