If there is one thing that stands out in SMU’s latest incoming freshmen cohort, it is how diversity reigns. And while the latest additions to the SMU family hail from different backgrounds and boast varied interests, they all share a common goal: to gain a holistic, engaged and transformative education at this premier university in Asia.
Brimming with enthusiasm, these newcomers also bring with them a wealth of experiences and perspectives. They’re passionate about making a difference, from starting their businesses to working on cutting-edge research projects and volunteering in their local communities.
Join us in extending our warmest welcome to Bachelor of Accountancy student Sneha Peter, who had won numerous accounting competitions as a student at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, such as the SMU Accounting Challenge 2021 and SMU Mind the GAAP 2021. She has interned at Deloitte in the Global Financial Services Industry, was awarded the Diploma with Merit for being in the top 10% in her cohort in Polytechnic and was placed on the Director’s List for two years due to her excellent academic performance. Here Sneha shares with us her interests and why SMU is the university for her.
What are some of your interests beyond academic goals?
I enjoy interacting with children and serving as a Sunday School teacher in my church. I love the thrill of playing the multiplayer online game Mobile Legends with my friends. Most importantly, I love to spend time with my family by watching movies and playing games.
Why did you decide on SMU?
First, the seminar classes fit my preferred learning style of interactive lessons. Second, the SMU School of Accountancy’s strategic partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) would allow me to obtain my Associate Chartered Accountant qualification faster due to module exemptions. Also, SMU is conveniently located in the city. This makes it easier and quicker for me to travel to and from school.
