Meet Incoming Freshman of SMU 2024 – Sam Huang
Sam Huang, an independent and passionate investor in stocks and cryptocurrency since age 15, is an incoming freshman at SMU. He chose SMU for its unique blend of computing and law courses, anticipating the demand for expertise in both fields due to the rise of AI and other technologies. Sam is excited about SMU’s vibrant campus life, its location, and the career opportunities it offers. He looks forward to studying subjects he loves and engaging with new peers and experiences.
Embarking on a new chapter in a foreign land can be daunting – even more so if you’re a teen. But for Sam, his independent nature has helped him thrive since he came to Singapore at 16. Now, he’s ready to begin his university journey at SMU.
A fan of the American TV series “How I Met Your Mother,” Sam also enjoys basketball and music. However, his true passion lies in stocks and cryptocurrency investing – a hobby he’s pursued since the age of 15. “I have learnt a lot about investing over the years and have reaped many of its benefits.”
The biggest draw to SMU
Sam didn’t have to deliberate much in choosing SMU – it is the only university offering the unique blend of computing and law courses he is interested in. “With the world continuing to implement AI and various other sophisticated technologies in our daily lives, I believe that there is a demand for talents who are adept in both technology and law.”
The SMU experience
Besides the unique course offering, Sam is thrilled about immersing himself in the vibrant city district and exploring the surrounding areas of the campus. Naturally, he’s also looking forward to the career opportunities that SMU’s impressive graduation employment rate promises post-graduation.
Looking forward to the future
What Sam looks forward to most is finally studying a course that he’s genuinely interested in, rather than simply sitting in required classes for a standard curriculum. At the same time, he’s eagerly anticipating meeting new people and exchanging experiences and ideas.
