The TL;DR

One standout feature of SMU's latest incoming freshman cohort is its diversity. Sarah, an alumna of Eunoia Junior College, exemplifies this with her remarkable talent for speed reading. Having honed her ability to digest and retain information quickly, she is eager to apply this skill in her tertiary education at SMU. Discover her reasons for choosing the Bachelor of Science programme at the SMU School of Computing and Information Systems.

If there is one thing that stands out in SMU’s latest incoming freshmen cohort, it is how diversity reigns. And while the latest additions to the SMU family hail from different backgrounds and boast varied interests, they all share a common goal: to gain a holistic, engaged and transformative education at this premier university in Asia.

Brimming with enthusiasm, these newcomers also bring with them a wealth of experiences and perspectives. They’re passionate about making a difference, from starting their businesses to working on cutting-edge research projects and volunteering in their local communities.

Join us in extending our warmest welcome to Sarah Thauheed, a self-taught speed reader who has enjoyed reading since childhood – by maximising the short breaks between periods in primary school to flip through pages of a new book. Besides training the brain and improving memory, speed reading enables one to absorb and retain written information faster and better than others. Having developed the ability to digest and retain a lot of information in a short period, Sarah now looks forward to putting her talent in speed reading to the good use as she embarks on her tertiary education at SMU. Hear from the Eunoia Junior College alumna on her reason for applying to the Bachelor of Science (Information Systems) programme at the SMU School of Computing and Information Systems.
